Hello everyone.I hope everyone is doing fine. The year 2012 is already a month old and this is my first post of the year. Here is a short review of the year 2011…:)
The year started with a bang.DBSK made a comeback with keep your head down(although it was only Yunho and Changmin but it was great for a kpop lover like me to see them return to the stage). The song is one of my favorite songs(I didn’t like the rap…it sounded little creepy but otherwise it was fine). This was the return of the KINGS.
I was not a huge fan of MBLAQ before the song CRY was released. It was one of the best pop ballads of the year 2011.Take a look at the MV!!
People always complaint that only good looking sexy girls make it into entertainment industry(and yeah thats the truth) but one Girl Group is an exception here and they are PIGGY DOLLS.I enjoyed watching them perform on music shows and the girls are really talented.
Another song which made into my favorites list is BTD.Infinite, which was highly underrated at that time couldn’t leave a big impact on music shows but their sincerity and hard work was clearly visible and that’s what paid off later in the year.
Err i also tried to do a cover this song but unfortunately it turned out something like this
Secret Garden is one of the few dramas i watched this year(i watched only two 😛 err two and a half to be precise one was City Hunter and other was Athena)Will always remember this drama for the OSTs.It featured some of the best ballads of the year and was one of the most viewed drama of the year.If you haven’t watched this drama..go and watch now…below is the one of the OST of the Drama.
Teen Top..is one of the bands i dont like..but their song Super Love made into my playlist and that too because of JD Relic. For those who dont know JD, he is a producer and a singer. He teamed up with ukiss later in the year(will come to this later)So I’m linking the cover version here not the original one..well all credit goes to Teen Top…
I personally find solo singers better than a group.G.na the queen of Kpop(some of you might not agree with me on that)released the song Black and White. Its better than Top girl..
Mighty Mouth Tok Tok was released on jan 18(Music Video).I was just googling some new k songs and heard this one. This song is the most played in my playlist.Dont know why but i found the MV interesting too.The original ver. featured Kim Bum Soo and this one featured Soya. The original ver is good to hear too but Soya’s vocals suited the song and i will go with this version.
The saddest moment of 2010 was the expiration of SS501’s contract.Every member of the group chose to pursue solo careers and Park Jung Min released the debut single Not Alone. He didnt win any music show but his comeback was the most appreciated one.
Seungri’s What Can I Do is the next song i’m going to list here.Typical K-pop no. which makes you dance to the beats. The song was also featured in Engadget not because of Kpop but because of the use of LG Slate which was highly anticipated at that time.
Other than all this,KARA DSP controversy was also a main highlight of the month.
Thank you for reading!!!!
no more soompi charts..:P (though i love them) no more melon..no more any other freaking korean site..(which i cant translate) hmm i’m sure their source of info will be the sites i mentioned above bt yeah what a delight for a kpop fan like me.(who uses google translator to chk the songs..XD)…and whenever u say kpop rocks the world it really does…n billboard approves it..;)
Billboard goes K-Pop today (Aug. 25) with the launch of a new chart, the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100. The tally, which ranks Korea’s top-selling songs, kicks off with girl group Sistar‘s “So Cool” grabbing the No. 1 slot and beating out second-place Leesang and 2NE1, who land not only at No. 3 (with “Ugly”) but also No. 14 (“Hate You”) and No. 21 (“I Am The Best”) on the chart dated Sept. 3.
GO TO THE BILLBOARD K-POP HOT 100
The Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 chart, launched in conjunction with Billboard Korea, is based on digital sales via leading websites as well as downloads from mobile service sites using an industry-standard formula and the most credible music data sources within Korea. The K-Pop Hot 100 debuts simultaneously here on Billboard.com, in the international chart section of Billboard.biz, in Billboard magazine, and also on Billboard Korea’s website, billboard.co.kr.
“The launch of the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 chart is a milestone event, as it will provide the Korean music market with what we believe is Korea’s most accurate and relevant song ranking,” says Silvio Pietroluongo, Billboard’s Director of Charts. “We’re excited to be expanding Billboard’s globally recognized Hot 100 chart franchise into this country, and look forward to enhancing the K-Pop Hot 100 chart in the near future with additional data as well as creating new charts that showcase the breadth of Korean music.”
Meanwhile the artists dominating the top of the inaugural Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 reflect the fact that hit-making girl groups are a top attraction in Korean music. Sistar and 2NE1 are just two examples. T-ara, made up of seven young ladies, has secured the No. 4 position as well as grabbing No. 73 (visit Billboard.biz soon for positions No. 51-100). Miss A, whose influential management company also manages the ever popular Wonder Girls, rounds out the top five with their single “Good-bye Baby.” Here’s a closer look at five of the female groups ruling the K-Pop 100 this week.
Sistar has won over men and women (and more men) alike with their K-Pop dance track, “So Cool,” which is characterized by its intense beat. The ladies sing about rising out of a bad breakup and ending up stronger than ever before and feeling “so cool” about themselves. As you can see in the music video, Sistar’s appeal is not only in its music but also in its choreography. Though Sistar has just recently released its debut album, the girls’ sexy moves hint at dancing skills that will continue to win fans as they progress further into their career.
2NE1’s “Ugly” is an electronic dance track, a genre that the group has come to represent in Korea. Infused with electronic-infused rock guitar, The song’s upbeat rhythm is contrasted by its morose, self-criticizing lyrics. In it, 2NE1 sings and raps from the perspective of young teenage girls who are unsatisfied with their appearance and hate the fact that their “ugly” face prevents them from being loved. All five tracks of 2NE1’s second EP have been top digital sellers in Korea signaling the lasting appeal of these four vibrant young women.
T-ara dials back to Korea of the 1980s with “Roly-Poly.” The track’s repetitive melody even recalls a touch of the Bee Gees’ classic hit “Night Fever.” As the seven girls dance on a retro nightclub stage, they sing about suddenly meeting with Mr. Right on the dance floor and chasing him down all night. The “Roly-Poly” music video also has a short film as the intro … so you can fast forward to 4:20 to hear the song.
Miss A’s hit song, “Good-bye Baby,” is a dance track that smoothly combines hip-hop and soul elements. Park Jin Young, who produced Wonder Girl’s hit song “Nobody” (which landed in the U.S. Hot 100 in late 2009), wrote the lyrics and composed the music for “Good-bye Baby.” Miss-A sings a powerful chorus telling their cheating boyfriends to leave for good. In the video, the four ladies saunter around their jet black leather dresses, giving a visual representation of this lyrical appeal for independence. Miss-A, who has two members — Fei and Jia — of Chinese descent, also has a sizable fanbase in China.
The six members of Dalshabet (which means ‘sweet sherbet’) have found great success with their third single, the disco-esque “Bling Bling”. In the music video, the ladies move away from the innocent and sweet image that they portrayed for their first two single albums and emphasize their more playful, sexy side. Dalshabet sings about meeting their ideal boy at a disco club and dancing the night away.
Kpop has spread all over the world and India is part of it too..:) here is the video made by Indian Kpop lovers we are not few in number and i hope we can have some gr8 kpop shows here in future please watch it share it..spread this video ..please pleas…:)

On just its second week on the chart, CN Blue’s “Intuition” rises six spots to get No. 1, winning easily by a wide margin. The band is now three for three, with all their charted songs getting to No. 1. Last year, CN Blue had their debut song “Loner” went to No. 1, then followed up with “Love” which topped the chart for six weeks and became our “Song Of The Year” in 2010. Now “Intuition” adds to their young but already impressive resume.
Two groups have their first top 5 hit this week. Girl’s Day is enjoying surprising success with their latest single “Twinkle Twinkle” at No. 4 while boy band Infinite also has their biggest hit so far with “Nothing’s Over”. Both are sophomore groups who in large part were overlooked last year, but they are increasing in popularity now.
As we begin the second quarter this year, our chart is heating up with comeback songs by big name singers. Kim Tae Woo, whose “Love Rain” was one of the most popular songs two years ago, came back with his second album “T-School”. The title song “Echo” immediately debuted into the top 10 this week. Just below him is Yangpa’s “It Hurts”. Yangpa is coming back after a four-year absence. Despite releasing only three albums in the last ten years, she has always received solid support on all her releases.
Finally, a surprisingly high debut this week at No. 13 by the male duo UV. Their latest hit “Itaewon Freedom” is also their first top 20 hit. UV has a unique music style, mixing R&B, hip-hop, and funk in their songs. The song features the famous JYP and perhaps it is one of the reasons this has become their breakthrough hit.

After pre-recording for their comeback stage on KBS 2TV’s “Music Bank” today, the boys of TVXQ met with reporters to discuss their love for the stage, their ambition for a strong performance, and to clarify the controversial ‘Thanks To’ message.
Starting off, the duo shared, “We’ve wanted to stand on stage for a while. It’s really emotional.” Yunhocontinued, “It feels unique coming to the broadcast hall after such a long time. I’m more excited than nervous about our first stage. Unfortunately, I caught a cold, and wasn’t able to show the best stage possible.”
Changmin added, “While watching the year-end award ceremonies last year, all I could think about was wanting to stand on stage. I thought I’d be nervous, but maybe this is what it feels like to come back home after studying abroad.”
The reporter brought up how fans have waited for their return for over two years, to which Yunho replied, “We’ll work as hard as our fans have waited for our return. We’ll be standing on many stages as singers, and appear on variety shows as well. It’s important to do well, but even more important to try our best. Please look forward to us.”
In an interview with Star News, Yunho stated, “It’s been a while since we’ve stood on a Korean stage, so I was very excited, feeling very much like a rookie again. We’ve gotten a lot of juniors here at the broadcast hall, and I felt thankful in being greeted by them. We’ll be promoting ‘Keep Your Head Down‘, and we’ll show a good image to our fellow seniors, juniors, and our fans.”
Changmin added, “It feels good returning to Korea. The broadcast hall feels like our home, it’s very fun.”
Regarding the controversy surrounding ‘the second coming of TVXQ‘ statement in his ‘Thanks To’, Yunho clarified, “It’s just an expression of our feelings in starting our activities again as a duo. After a long while, Changmin and I have released an album, the message was just meant to be an expression of greeting our fans again. It’s our new sense of determination.”
When asked about the differences between singing a song with two members as opposed to five, Yunho answered, “First of all, you need more stamina. Changmin took charge of the high notes while I covered the lower notes. I was worried about whether they’d match, but thankfully it harmonizes well. We tried to pay attention to every part of our choreography. It’s an album we’re confident in, as we’ve put our best in it for our fans to look forward to.”
The duo also completed an interview with KBS 2TV’s “Entertainment Relay,” which will broadcast at 9 PM KST on January 8th.
IU takes the win on today’s Music Bank, with her song “Good Day” closely beating out G-Dragon & TOP’s “Oh Yeah”.

Although their album has yet to be released, a specific track from JYJ has been garnering a lot of speculation.
“Untitled Song Part 1” was composed by member Yoochun and features lyrics expressing his experience under SM Entertainment.
A segment from his lyrics state:
“In 2003, we finished our first match after months of rehearsal
By 2004, we were the rookies of the month
But unable to be satisfied with all of the rookie awards,
We began desiring for more
In 2005, we advanced into Japan
Thought it would be as easy as Korea
But after selling only 4,000 copies of our first single
Our confidence dropped to the floor
We couldn’t even speak Japanese,
Every day consisted of pacing between our dorm and the company
It was an imprisonment under the disguise of what’s best for us
Excessive loneliness, tears, and anger
We said those were what turned us into one,
That no matter what would happen, to never disband..
But I’m going to turn my back to you, since you already changed”
While it’s clear that Yoochun was recounting his frustrations with SME, netizens have been puzzling over whether or not the song was an indirect statement involving TVXQ as well. Jaejoong’s lyrics for “Pierrot” received similar attention, but an interview clarified that the song was about ”the reality of the education system“.
Wedding snapshots of TVXQ’s Max Changmin and actress Lee Yeon Hee were recently revealed to promote the upcoming SBS drama, “Paradise Ranch.”
Taken from their wedding day, the warm atmosphere between the couple and the kiss on the cheek makes the scenario look very sincere. Unfortunately, the happiness captured in those pictures is fleeting at best – the plot has the two getting married at a very young age, but they later decide to divorce.
